Canon T3i or Nikon D5100 ?

I'm looking at buying one of these but I'm torn between them. I really like the Canon but the reviews say the Nikon has better picture quality and is better in low light situations. Can someone please tell me if there is that much of a difference in the two areas. Thanks.

I've zero experience of either model, but it's unlikely to be a huge difference. I believe both have similar feature sets, and undoubtedly both are capable of producing fantastic images and each have access to some amazing lenses.

So, either research the web and try out at stores shooting test images until your brain explodes or just buy the one you 'really like'.
