As Sigma reverse engineer their lenses onto the current (when released) bodies you run the risk that it wont work on a body released after the lens was manufactured. I believe later Sigmas (hopefully yours is) can be re-chipped by Sigma, best to give them a call.
My Sigma 150-500 which is a year old works fine with my 7D, is yours not focussing at all or is it just back/front focussing a bit. I assume the contacts are clean.
if it is not focussing right you can micro-adjust it. It's in the custom functions menu and you can adjust the front or back focussing by 20 points. I've done this with 5 out of my 6 lenses and now they all work great
