I get this in media player 11

Can not play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card

I googled and most findings are 2006 and 2007

I ahve downloaded and installed every codec mentioned.. i have downloaded differnt players.

i ahve checked the laptop device is set to region 2

a copied dvd (i borrowed to test ahem) will work but a shop bought dvd will not ..

check what region your computer is set at.
If it's set to say region 5 and you are trying to play a uk disc it wont let you.

Failing that just download VLC media player.

have you tried a couple of genuine DVDs?

my thoughts are copy protection on the DVDs not allowing playback? i know a few music CDs have had this in the past where it wont playback in a computer.

THANKS :)

Ah I remember getting this last year when I built a mini-ITX box with a laptop drive, and it seemed to only apply to Windows Media Player. I had to install an ac3filter codec for WMP11 to be able to play DVD's.
