Should be receiving my shiny new Canon 550D tomorrow, finally making my choice after reading comments on here, and visiting shop for hands on.

This is dipping my toes back in the SLR water after:

Zenit E (great to learn on)
Canon AE-1 & Canon A-1 (both just brilliant)
Olympus OM-1 & Olympus OM-10 (Worst decision I ever made getting these, great cameras but not for me)
Canon T90 (I actually shed a tear when I let that one go! well nearly )

Now after owning a couple of bridge cameras, I'm finally back into the world of SLR.

Sorry for boring you all with this, but even at my age, I am a trifle excited

That pretty much mirrors my own progression, though I didn't divert to Olympus. I no longer have my Zenit, but I do still have my AE1, A1 and T90. The only other difference is that I went for the 40D as my first DSLR.

Enjoy your new camera when it arrives, it's a cracking piece of kit.

You're allowed to get excited whatever the age, enjoy.

Derek, more than a little bit jealous that you still have the 3 Canons, unfortunately at the respective times I had to sell them. (Big ahhhhhh)

As said Paul, it's not boring us. It's always nice to get a new toy to play with and from reports read the 500D is a great piece of kit.

I'm the worlds worst, if I order something I want it yesterday so know how you feel!!!

I'm currently waiting on two items and can't wait :D :D :D

Thanks Ryan. With your moniker, am I right you may pay more than the odd visit to Houndmills?

Just spotted you location :D as for Houndmills I might just be found here on a daily basis, let us know if you wanna go out and about on a shoot, haven't done much around Basingstoke as I normally end up at the Cotswold Wildlife Park! If you want a lift up there I'm up there most Wednesdays and alternate Sundays lol

I'll bear that in mind Ryan cheers.

PS - Sorry I drive a Toyota!

Well at least mine was one of the rare ones not recalled, although I am waiting for a notice to be publised any day now :)

The new ones look stunning, the last one was comfy as hell and the one before were a bit daft, a friend has the old shape runnig 320Bhp lol...

Mines a 55 reg, T-Spirit, leather and fully loaded. I like my toys!
I guess I might have to clean it, give it a good showroom finish (love Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection) and take some pics.

Have you tried Meguiars, personally think it gives a better finish than the autoglym products and less dusting :D

No I haven't, Autoglym sent me a load of products gratis, as I was doing a review of them for a website that is now defunct, and have found them great to use. Though maybe will try Meguiars when they run out.
