Just purchased a new to me macbook pro, looking for any advice regards a suitable card reader to accompany this, I was looking at the expresscard 34 variants, namely the Delkin 34 or Verbatim cameramate but have read that the Delkin isn't the fastest as it is actually acting as a usb device instead of a pci-e device and that the Verbatim has issues where it corrupts some pics on transfer, so I have now started casting my eye down the firewire 800 route, any advice greatly appreciated, ideally from the point of view that you are using one

Thanks

Tony

you can use expresscard 34s in 17" mbps but not hte smaller ones as they have no slot :(

if poss I'd go expresscard but thats just cos its what I use :p

a delkin expresscard 54, i had to pop it out to check because it was the cheapest on on amazon, quality won't make much difference ere as all it is is an adapter between the laptop bus and the card pins, no thinking takes place ;)

I posted a thread about these last week, bought one from china for £12 inc postage that was blisteringly fast, will have a look....

Awesome thanks for the heads up, thats the only downer to the whole thing the wait time :(

I paid £20 for my Lexar reader. Copying 1GB of files from my 60 MB/s Sandisk to my SSD gave a transfer rate of 71 MB/s. Everytime I use it I'm just blown away at how quickly 7D raw files get imported into Lightroom. The reader is spec'd to 113 MB/s.

I used one of these but then I upgrade my MBP to latest, no express card slot any more :-(

Will be putting up for sale soon.

The card, not the MBP
