Why in the name of all thats sane won't my card reader read a 4gb SD card, yes I know it's high capacity but it happily reads a 16gb CF card. Why does the SDHC card need to be "different" from a "normal" SD card. Oh well of to the shops for a new reader!:'(

My more expensive Lexar reader won't read my new SD cards, but my cheapo Kington reader does!
 
It needs to be different as the SD standard didn't have enough address space to go beyond 2Gb. They hit the buffers again and there is now a new SDXC standard to address >16Gb cards

CF cards were designed to be flexible from the start.
