Charging camera batteries from car socket?

Is there a way of doing this just by getting something to connect to a standard charger, or do you need to buy something specially? Did have a quick google but wasn't sure.

I have a car charger for my Canon but its a 3rd party charger.

You need an inverter to us your current battery charger :-

I'd just get an inverter, that way you gain the ability to plug anything in while your'e on the move. Not that I advocate the use of a laptop or dvd player while your driving or you may be getting a few point on your licence.

Graham you don't need to do it with an inverter. Just get something like this

They have their uses but be aware they are really good at draining car batteries.

Neither my wifes phone, my daughters phone or my phone came with a car charger. Nor did plenty of other portable devices, if you have a 3 pin plug this type of divice is very useful. It also charges anything from a usb port too.

What does it say on the bottom of your 7D charger regarding the input.

1D chargers can plug straight into the 12v socket.

Input is AC 100-240v or DC 12-24v

Output is 12.6v DC

You 7D charger could be the same.
