Hello all,

Just taken stock of the fantastic Ixus 870IS and thought i would give the CHDK a try.
All went well, downloading the correct program for my FW.
Then loaded it all on and went into the menus and selected RAW to be saved with the extension .CR2.

I then snapped and it saved the JPG and the CR2 as predicted onto my SD card.
I then imported them into Lightroom and this is where my porblem lies. It throws up the following error :

"The files appear to be unsupported or damaged"

Is that right? I would assume that LR cannot read the created RAW, or am i doing something wrong ???

Have you downloaded the latest version of Adobe camera raw ... and check that the ixus is supported in it. If not then you may have to use the supplied software until it is supported by adobe.

First of all what version of Lighroom are you running?

It may be that the version you have may not support the version of Canon's CR2 files. ( Not all CR2 files are created equal!!!). Many are camera specific. Doesn't make life easy does it.

Never used an Ixus so can't give to much help. However you may simply need to update the ACR program ( That's the one that deals with RAW files). Running Lightroom, got to HELP, and click on UPDATES. This should download the latest ACR and instal it for you.

Alternatively do you have any RAW viewing software with the camera. Canon supply DPP with most of their RAW enabled cameras. Whilst it's no Lightroom it does do a very good job.

Typical, foudn the solution, but it was generated from your replies, ta.

I have to use DNG format. At first it was telling me my DNGs were crap, so had to reset them ,so once done i now use DNG raws to edited my photos in LR (2.3).

Phew. And my god the pictures look good. Shame you have to boot CHDK every time you put the card back in and it takes a few seconds to take the photo, but thats a small price to pay.
