OK, both the adaptor and the bracket arrived nice and early this morning. Took me all of 5 minutes to set it up of the Manfrotto 410 geared head.
The only issue I see with this, and to be honest, its not an issue for D800 owners if you use the remote, is that you're not able to access the side door. This may not be the case with other cameras though.
So the 'mod' went like this.
1. From left to right - Manfrotto 410 base plate, Arca Swiss adaptor plate and the XCsource L Bracket

2. The adaptor is screwed into the Manfrotto base plate using the existing screw - simple.

3. Here's an image (shaky I know) of the L plate screwed into the D800E - nice snug fit. Note the plate is a two piece bit of kit, but it is SOLID. Not bad for under £10 -saved me £'s over the Kirk or Manfrotto equivalent.

4. Manfrotto base plate with the adaptor mounted onto the 410 geared head.

5. Camera mounted in landscape position.

6. Camera mounted in the portrait position.

May have a chance to test this out tomorrow evening on the way back from work, but my initial impression is that for £20, this solution is an absolute steal that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
