Checking out lens focal plane

Hi,

I occasionally wonder if my lens/camera is as spot on as it can be in the focusing department.

Sometimes I take a few shots and when I view them I could have sworn that the focus was spot on, but it's off slightly. Usually to focused slightly to the front.
As you'd expect this effect is definately more noticable at the lower f'nos f4 and less (as the DOF is apparent)

Tried stacking dominoes or cards at distances of say 2-5mm apart then taking a shot of the center one to see where the focus lock thinks it is, but have not been conclusive in findings.

Anyone got any better (heath robbinson) ideas for checking this in a reproducable manner?

Cheers

Cheers - looks spot on

I've been analysing my focus method recently and I've found that I tend the point the camera downwards a bit which at wide apertures is enough to through the focus plane off where it should be.
