Canon EOS 350D Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM - 1/125 sec - f 8 - 300 mm
(for those who care about that stuff)

coo - that's good - works really well in b&w

"one step closer and I'll have you for lunch!"
cracking shot

how do you avoid the wire of the fencing around the lion enclosure, or will that level of zoom just erase them?

Andy(not got decent zoom)T

I was gonna ask the same question andy.

Great shot of the lion - B & W deffo does it justice.

Went to Chester zoo a few weeks ago - those otters are great models!!

If you can get the lens right up against the wire and use a large enough aperture, you can lose the wires altogether as they're so oof they don't register.

The technique works best the further the critter is away from the wire on the other side, and generally speaking, the longer the lens.

i find the Lions at chester zoo notoriously lazy, either a lot of patience involved there, or good timing getting one awake and almost looking directly at you - well done

i'll be making my case now for a nice zoom lens :)
