Hello,

I want to purchase some lens cleaning items for my kit, and am considering the following three:
- Giottos Rocket Air Blower
- Hama Lens Cleaning Pen (is the Nikon pen worth the extra money?)

Apart from these two bits, do I need a liquid lens cleaner and microfibre cloths? If yes, can someone recommend some brands?

I saw a Youtube video from Cameradojo that dissed using microfibre cloths in favour of a cleaning pen, though Ken Rockwell enthusiastically endorses cloth use.

Is there anything else I am missing?

Thank you.

A micro fibre cloth should suffice depending on how dirty/smeared the lens is, if that isn't enough a little liquid lens cleaner used very spareingly but doubt if you would need it. if dust then yes a blower, but be careful if trying it out inside a camera body to get dust mites off a sensor, you could disturb dust elsewhere in the camera body. Forget the lens cleaning pen i have never had any success with them.
Completely different bits of kit I would recommend for a sensor clean, if unsure how to, send the camera away to have a sensor cleaned professionally. Not a job to be done if not sure on what your doing,

Little tip when cleaning any camera gear, do it in a clean environment(kitchen?) to stop house dust resettling and don't forget to do the lens cap as well.

I bought a few bits..
Jessops rocket blower, which turned out to be a Giottos brand.
Spudz cleaning cloth.
Lens pen which I've just replaced with a Lens Pen set (3 pens of various sizes including a tiny one for the view finder), for around £15.
I stopped using liquid cleaner on everything including PC monitors, cause they ALWAYS smear, and sometimes that smear stays put!

Thanks a lot for all the information. Ok, so I'll nix the fluid for the moment.

I'm only interested in cleaning the lenses myself, for the sensor I'd probably get it professionally cleaned.

So if I read this correct - the rocket air blower and some microfibre cloths should suffice?
