Hi ,

Just seen this tutorial on youtube on how to clean you lenses! looks effective and easy enough. I like the fact you don't need any expensive cleaning kits!

Just onto my second lens now, my first is sat on the draining board! I'll let you know how it goes.......:bonk:

PS if this should be in the Tutorial section, could a mod please move it over there?! ;)

Much easier to just whack them in the dishwasher - after all, that may be a Cannon too!

Easier if you remove the lens hood first and also a good idea to give the inside of the lens cap a blast or two of air before putting it back on the lens.

Spends all that time cleaning, then puts a lens back on their body face up allowing all the dust to drop into it.

Do they have a sensor cleaning video too??

On a more serious note, just in case any noobs may have read this far in the hope of getting some lens cleaning advice, my routine (not necessarily the only or correct one but the one that's worked for me for 30+ years)is

#1. Rocket blowerand/or careful brush.
#2. Huff* on the lens - this often shows up greasy marks such as fingerprints that are invisible on an unhuffed lens.
#3. Huff and a gentle rub with a lens cloth (microfibre for preference).
#4. Lens cleaning fluid (? Isopropyl Alcohol) on a lens cleaning tissue (usually bought as a kit from most photographic retailers).
#5. Huff again to show up any remaining crud/grease.
#6. If all else fails, I have a small bottle of (?) Opticlear - a film which you paint on as a liquid, leave to dry to a film then lift off using small stickers supplied for the purpose. This leaves a lens sparkling clean but I haven't needed to use if for a fair while.

*Huff - breathe gently onto the front element to leave a thin coat of condensation on the lens.
