well andy
if i have to buy a lens i will not do the job because i will not make no money,

just want to know really if my lens will be ok

Try your nifty out and see if your happy at how "close" the are.

the lady does not want to hire a studio

she just wants me to use a white sheet and a flash,
i have a speedlite but i think they will look not great

this is food that she wants to sell on the internet
just don't understand why some people are so tight

Ah, misread your post.

I've done some closeish photography with my kit lens and nifty.

Why not have a go....the results will give you the answer.

I wouldn't think you need a macro lens unless you want to get super close and show the seeds...

Let us know how you get on...

Cheers

The 18-55mm Canon kit lens will get you plenty close enough for this sort of thing - assuming you're talking about close-ups of jam spread on a corner of toast or on the end of a spoon etc. That lens has a remarkably short focusing distance.
I know that it's not food, but below are a couple of examples of just how close you can actually get with that lens with a bit of practice and patience (these are only cropped slightly to aid composition).

The 50mm hasn't got as short a focusing distance as the 18-55mm, but for wider shots of the jars and things it'll be absolutely fine and will also give you far sharper images than the 18-55.

TBH your biggest challenge with photographing food will be the lighting, not the lenses that you have.
