i was going to say post the pic not the link, but then it worked... ultraslow internet here....
the one really obvious thing that would improve this is turn the first coin round the other way so the text on the edge is upright.....
Not sure what you were trying to achieve with the rest of it.... macro has a notiously low DOF and seems to be OOF from 1/2 way through the first coin.....I would say struggling to see a sharp area on the first coin, but on a 10" netbook with uncal monitor .....

Just trying out the extents of the DOF with the new lenses mate.
I prob could make this shot more artistic, with, like you say, spending a bit more time setting up the detail.
May have overdone the noise reduction as i was shooting under low light indoors.
But all in all just a shot to test out camera/lenses.
