Hi All,
I'm after any advice from anyone about a decent compact camera for a 6yr old.
I am after a compact, preferably with a L-ion battery.
I will probably end up buying 2nd hand from a well known auction site so probably looking at a price range of up to £70 new (then would obviously be less 2nd hand). She currently has a Samsung compact which is proving to be limiting due to poor picture quality.

Thanks in Advance, Karl

Hi Karl,
If you see a Canon Power Shot A480 secondhand they go for around £40 to £45. The wife has one and she loves it! Easy to use good picture quality, for the money anyway. See sample shot attached, this was taken with the onboard fill in flash in full auto and she is just a point and shoot snapper.

Spend anymore money than this and it smarts when It's been left on a park bench on your last trip out! I know from experience with my kids.

One boxed with all the bits on Ebay at the moment for £36 posted!

My granddaughter used an LX3 from 8 years old, (i've since bought her a GF1) i don't see why a 6 year old couldn't use one(LX3), it's a great camera and you should be able to pick one up within your budget.

Thanks for all your replies. I have given her a Lumix G1 we had 'lying around' long story! But she seems to be getting on great with it. I bought her a colourful neck strap off ebay and away to go. All the menus are in Japanese but that's not an issue at the moment as she is mainly pointing and shooting in aperture priority. We went to a local-ish theme park/wildlife park yesterday and she got a cracking shot of a peacock in full display. I may invest in something else if she continues but this to do the job for now, excellent picture quality and quick.
