Hi, not been on hear for a while, just off loaded my DSLR looking for a compact was looking at the cannon S120 what are my options budget around £300.
Thanks in advance
Ok, maybe i should expand a little on that. The Fuji XF1 is THE bargain of the century atm. Curry's are selling them for under £130. This camera was ~£400 at launch so you can guess the kind of quality and performance it expels. It is available in 4 colours although if you want yellow then you will have to pay £150 for some reason. The standard colours are red, black and tan... You'll find plenty of love for it on this forum and the rest of the net.
You're welcome mate. There is an owners thread running for the X10/X20/XF1 which covers pretty much everything you need to know. Then the other £180 could pay for a weekend away so you can use it!
I was "concerned" when I got my xf1. With the exception of a few distinctly average entry level bridge cameras, I had no experience of non DSLRs and when I looked at the price... Well, let's just say I was half expecting it to be a waste of money
I couldn't have been more wrong. The xf1 punches way above it's weight and is awesome. Definitely made the right choice
I bought an XF1 a little while ago, but I gave mine to the missus for some strange inexplicable reason! I know I made the right choice in purchasing one, but not sure I made the right choice in giving it to the missus.
Just got a brand new Olympus E-PL5 Micro 4/3 with kit lens from Amazon for £309!
I was amazed how small it is. With a pancake lens it's not much bigger than my P&S.
Ok the xf1 seems to be the bargain of the century at the moment, and i do love the look of it, little bit worried about low light photography with it. Anybody used the s120? Is the sony rx100 still highly rated i no it was when it came out but was mega expensive, you can get the mk11 for £359 from hong kong......tax maybe on top i think
I was disappointed with the build quality of the xf1 so much I took it back and got a refund... So my advice is go and handle one, I am not disputing the IQ is great for the money but that will mean nothing if you don't enjoy using it.
I'd have a look at the Sony RX100 and Panasonic LX7 if you don't mind having a short zoom range. I've had a RX100 for a while and remain very happy with it.
HKBNS for the Sony at that price but I've just read that it doesn't communicate with apple products so may dismiss that!
With the xf1 I read that it's only good to around 800 ISO and it moves away from 1.8ap very quickly!
I'm after the best I can get for £300-£350 max, happy to go cheaper if it's really that good!
I've already looked at it and it was probably the closest i have been to pulling the trigger on one so far... I had it all set up on DR to go then looked at my XF sat on my desk looking all awesome at me.
Ok thanks very much for all your very helpful comments I've been and looked at all in question and I settled for the Sony mk11 the tilting screen was a nice addition and the build quality is second to none!!
Lot of money to spend on a compact hope it's worth it!!
