It would be compatible but why would you need such an expensive high speed card,
I have used 200x sandisk extreme iii (much cheaper) for high speed continous shooting withut any problems

I was just assuming that the faster the card the better it would be for continuous shooting. (probably wrong)
I'm currently using a 4GB Lexar 233x and have been pleased with it but now I've upgraded to the 7D I wanted a bigger card...and with Christmas coming I thought I could see if Santa would buy me one
Are the sandisk cards preferred by most pros?

Sandisk/Lexar doesnt matter which one, so long as its genuine. (lots of fake ones around)
Use your 4gb lexar on 7d before deciding on a higher speed card, I am sure you wouldnt have any problems
