Compact Flash PC Card Adapter??

I just got my new laptop and have an old kingston CompactFlash PC card Adapter. It looks a lot like a PCMCIA card so I guess it must be.

Trouble is when I put it into the side of the laptop it does about 2/3rd of the way in and wont seem to go any more. Nothing happens on the laptop either and I dont want to force it in.

What should I do?

on an extra note it fits perfectly into an older laptop and goes all the way in.

was there a blanking plate in there to show you what shape card fits in there?

ive got 2 slots on mine, a PCMCIA slot and an express card slot (see link) which would explain why it doesnt go all the way in..

some new smaller laptops seem to be phasing out PCMCIA.
