Competition winners?

I wonder if I'm the only one who is becoming disappointed at the level of 'content' if that's the right word, in photographic competition winners?

Recently, I have begun to loose interest in entering any of these especially after painstakingly sorting out an appropiate image and doing all the necessary work in order to enter the competitions, only to discover that the 'winner' was awarded to a photo I wouldn't even keep let alone enter.

It has dawned on me (eventually) that it is not so much the 'winning entry' but the judges who bring my curiosity to ponder here!

Also, while I'm on my soapbox, how many of you have read an article in any photo magazine which features half a dozen photos taken by a professional photographer who has written ex amount of books etc., blah blah blah, and thought............I could do better than that c**p?

I suppose it's like a songwriter. Once you're well known or famous, any rubbish will sell!

Your own opinions would be appreciated!

Sincerely
Old Misery Guts.

This is a topic that comes up many times at our camera club. Best advice is to find out who is judging and then Google them and their results and put a crap photo into the competition that they may have a preference for.

It's a thankless task to pick just one winner out of hundreds or even thousands of entries and there will be far far more disappointed people than happy ones when the results are read out.
