Hi just got a Zeiss Ikon contraflex 1,. Lens needs a clean how do you remove the front element, it's a tessar 2.8/45 don't want to force it , have no idea. Thanks.
 
Contaflex. Without the R.

Push in the little tab with a red dot at the bottom of the lens barrel then turn the front element anti-clockwise by ninety degrees.

Are you certain about that? I have a Contaflex II which I believe is the same as the I but with a meter. The front element is not removable.
 
Just looking at it now, no tab only 3 screws which hold the distance scale.
 
Yes the 1&2 are the same 2 has the meter, I must be blind can't see any tab ?.
 
Checked on the net this model has no tab to remove the lens , thanks anyway Stewart
 
I have two Contaflexes. One has removeable elements, the other does not.

So it's obvious which one you have now!

Camera in good condition , taking it to a camera shop in Glasgow next Thursday
Tobget an estimate to have it cleaned and serviced, the guy said he only does the Contaflex 1 & 2 as these are the easiest to work on , will let you know how it goes.
