Converting Compact Flash to Micro SD or link to tablet

I've got my Xoom, I've got a memory card reader (with the female to female adapter) but it doesn't recognise it and won't power it up.

So my question is

I want to be able to view the pictures on my memory card straight onto the Xoom without having to go home, upload to computer and transfer to Xoom

I can use a Micro SD card in the tablet but still would have to transfer the files over from the computer

How do I do it?

Have you tried a USB lead to the camera? and possibly trying PTP mode in the camera communications settings.

I don't have a tablet but thought I'd google while waiting for some glue to dry lol. Seems unclear from what I've read as to if the xoom can work in usb host mode or not. ie reading from things (instead of plugging in to something like a PC that can read from the xoom.)

On some earlier Canon cameras you have the choice of comms protocol . On my20D and 5D Mk1 it had to be switched to PC before it would talk to my laptop as Robert has said.Later cameras don't seem to have or need this option

I haven't yet tried it out. Been laid up in bed but I think my camera "talked" to my laptop okay. But then might not to my Xoom. Thanks for the heads up

Unusual for two females not to be talking to each other. In my experience you can't shut them up.

Have a read over at Xda Developers, you need to root the Xoom and install some files to activate USB OTG - it won't see a card reader or USB drive "out of the box"

Don't worry, have found the thread on that forum. Now need a crash course in developer language! I'm a developer myself but not that sort .

I read that using the camera adapter it recognises it in a pictbridge style, I am thinking of getting one and hoping this is the case
