Converting Raw files in CS4

I have just got CS4 and up till now i have always shot in fine jpeg as i've been a bit worried about using raw simply because i don't actually know what i have to do to get the best out of it. My question is can raw be converted to jpeg without me doing too much pp on them in cs4? If it can do you see much imprvement or should i be looking to convert manually in cs4.

You can if you wish, import the raw through ACR, doing all your pp as you import, then just save as jpeg.
