Creating a Border in Photoshop

Hi all,

After posting my Ullswater Boathouse picture http://www.apophotography.com/photo4357059.html
yesterday and getting some really good feedback, I want to place a border around it similar to the Mel Allen ullswater pic (thick enough at the bottom so I can add some nice writing) but I dont want to crop any of the image. How do I do it? I cant find a decent tutorial anywhere

Basic border is:

Image (from drop down)

Canvas size (add as many 'whatevers' as you want(I add 30 pixels to height and width))

Then to get the thick bit at the bottom I added 120 pixels to just the height and clicked the up arrow above the white box.

Does that make sense ?
