Hi all, I have a question, when taking photos of say a model, do you have to get them to sign a model release form?, if you do is there any "rules/guidelines when photographing say crowds/marches/reportage type shots , why can you use these shots for public viewing, sales etc without getting prior permission from the subject? Or am I barking up the wrong tree totally?

Model release forms are not a legal requirement in the UK, although advisable if you want to sell the image (models), common sense with group shots if you really think about that tree you're barking up. ;)

Ok thanks although the tree to me is a totally grey area to me at the moment as I am just learning.

For editorial use of say a photo of a riot or something, obviously you wont have a model release of everyone in the photo, and its not expected.
For a commercial shot of a model or group, then yes you would be expected to have a release of everyone in the photo.
