Custom functions on 20/30/40D

I know most cameras have custom function these days but is there one on these bodies to disable the flash?

I have a CF on my Nikon D2x that when I press the front function button, even when the flash is on the hotshot and turned on, it disables the firing signal. I find it useful in manual mode when using flash to check the ambient exposure. Just wondering if this is possible on EOS?

Can't confirm on the 20 and 30, but the 40D definitely has a flash control menu where you can disable flash altogether.
None of the 20/30/40 have assignable soft keys though, so it's probably something you'll have to access the menu for each time. I have the flash menu on the "my menu" for quick access when I need it.
