Started taking a film camera with me on my underground explores now. All taken with the Nikon F80 on Kentmere 400.

1 Cwmorthin terrace

2 Cwmorthin Uchaf Farm

And now in the mine itself

3 Abandoned Carts in a flooded level

4 A tracked passageway

5 Old Boilers

6 Junction

The underground shots were more of a practice really, they were all shot at f8 for 30 secs.

oh and they were developed in rodinal.

I didn't like the treatment of the outside ones (some sort of weird fairy dust look that I don't get), but the underground shots are magic. You didn't say how you lit them, which must be absolutely key to the result!

I would guess that its down to using a very grainy film with a grain enhancing developer, Kentmere 400 is a cheap film for a reason, it's got grain like sandpaper

Yea it's way too grainy, was only a test really, needless to say Ill be sticking with tri-x!

The way I lit the underground shots was by lightpainting. Nice and easy with digital because you can see how it looks straightaway. I'll definitely use more film underground, gives it that period feel.
