D200 question about auto exposure.

Its been a few hours of my ownership of this lovely peice of kit, and i finally worked out auto focus.

But at different shutter speeds i don't get the correct exposure, and i can't work out how to do the auto exposure.
I would appreciate any help.

Press the MODE button and use the rear thumbwheel to scroll through the options:

A (aperture priority)
S (shutter priority
M (manual)
P (program is full auto-exposure mode).

P will get you sorted for point-and-shoot stuff.

That works, but what if i want to increase/decrease shutter speed as well as keep auto exposure?

Either use SHUTTER PRIORITY and then you can dictate to the camera the shutter speed you want (providing the aperture works with the avilable light) or set it to AUTO and use the rear thumbwheel to adjust the settings to the desired shutter speed
