Yes
In short how do they compare? I have a D90 and D60 but my daughter is now getting into photography so am looking at an extra body and am considering the D200.

Reviews of the high ISO performance arnt encouraging, but is it that bad? My guess is its about the same as the D60 (same sensor?) is this the case?

Depends what sort of photography you/she wish to do. The D200 is very good and is looked over by many. Put it this way,I kept mine for certain areas of photography even though I have 300s and 700s.

your right the D200 is a pro speck camera unlike the D60&90 which will withstand everyday use rather than packing loads of gimmicks in a cheaper body that you will never use

For Quality

D60 D200 D90

For Ease of use/ergonomics

D60 D90 D200

For ability to use it as a hammer/toughness

D60 D90 D200

The D200 was a pro spec camera at the time when we had D40/D40x, D80, D200, D2x

The D60 replaced the D40 cameras and the D90 replaced the D80.

I have the D200 still and use it in my work virtually daily. The D200 is comparable with the D300 (and hence D90) up to about 800ISO ish beyond this the D200 is not brilliant. In good sunlight/normal light + flash the IQ is as good as the D300 really.

The reality is that they are all very good and there is not a great deal of difference in quality. What there is a big difference in is ergonomics/ease of use/ease of setting important functions etc. With that in mind I would personally prefer the D200 to the D90.

i take it your comparisons at the top of your post are in reverse order ie 3 - 2 - 1 ?

thats the way I see the ratings....

Helpful replies thanks guys, pretty much what I thought. So now I need to decide whether to go for the D200, or wait until the D300 comes down in sh prices, or just save for the vapourware D400.....
