A few months ago I purchased a D3100 for a really good price because it was small and I thought I might get out and use it. Well it got unwrapped and stored in its bag and gathered dust :)

Until today, when I finally dusted it off again and thought I'd spend some time figuring out what everything did. Doing OK so far I think, but one question I must ask...

How do I stop the LCD display turning on when I press the aperture button (or Fn button) in M mode?

It's doing my head in. So much so that I'm already considering binning it and heading out to give Canon my money :bang:

Am I simply overlooking something or, as I suspect, have Nikon messed up?

Calm it kermit :p

Have you tried turning auto info display off in the display menu?

Yep. Auto info display and image review are both off.

so it doesn't come on when you push the shutter button, only when you rotate the wheel?

I've never noticed it on mine. I'm away tonight, will check tomorrow when I am home

Turning the wheel to change the shutter speed is fine. It's when you press the aperture button in order to change aperture that the LCD lights up and blinds you. Also if you press Fn to check ISO.

Maybe I'm just using it funny :)
