Evening all,

I apologise for the numerous threads I've created in the last few days. I'm trying to get to grips with my new SLR and finding the help and information available here invaluable. I guess I'm taking advantage of it :p

I just downloaded a guide from Ken Rockwell's site and it took me 5 minutes to realise that it was for the D40 and not the x version (I'm not too sure if this makes too much of a difference though... I realise that a lot of the controls are the same).

However, he mentions turning the exposure to -0.7 as the metering is faulty on the D40. Is this the same as on the D40x?

I realise that a lot of the information is still relevent, but I'm just wondering if there are any other tips and tricks I can use on the D40x to help me get the most out of this camera.

Thanks for reading

Dave

Ken says that about most Nikon camera's :D He likes bold vivid colours, under exposing will give you bold vivid colours, best thing is it is digital so there is no cost in trying different settings yourself.

Try it at -.7 or -.3 and see what it looks like.

PS the meters are not 'faulty' they just do not expose to Ken's taste ;)

I see. I do find his reviews somewhat entertaining to read I must admit. Helpful all the same.

Will bear this mind. Thank you.

I bought the "for dummies" book for my D60 , its been very helpful

not sure if they do one for the D40 but it would be well worth a look
