D60 + Raynox MSN 202 - which lens in between?

Hi All,

I am (hopefully) getting a Nikon D60 for my birthday in a few weeks and am looking at additional lenses that I would like to go with it. I have asked for the basic kit (body plus kit lens) but know I will want something with a bit more reach as I enjoy wildlife photography. Another area of interest is macro and I have the Raynox 150 & 250 already - intend on getting the msn 202 as well.

So my question is - which lens would be best to use the msn 202 with and can I get one lens that will be good in this respect and also give me extra reach for wildlife shots?

Raynox MSN202 is a telephoto add-on lens for a Canon compact  It is no use on a Nikon D60.

The Raynox 150/250 work best on a medium tele zoom like 50-200ish and this would be a good choice for you. Should be fine for sport and similar action. However, don't expect to do much wildlife with that; depending what you mean by wildlife, it will almost certainly not be long enough. Think 300-400mm at least for that :(

Thanks for the reply - but are you sure we are talking about the same thing? I mean this:

I already have the DCR 150 & 250 so thanks for the info on using them with a medium tele, I will do some reseach on that. I was thinking of more like
300mm though...

I used a Nikon 55mm f2.8 AIS micro lens, very nice (just sold the 202 - works fine on the nikon)

Sorry, I googled it and came up with something completely different. My mistake.

Nikon make a very nice 70-300 VR lens, but it's a bit pricey but worth it I think. Plenty of cheaper alternatives with similar range. They should all work okay with the Raynox lenses you've got, and they go pretty close, so I would leave it at that until you have given everything a try and see which way you want to go.

You might want to try extension tubes or a pukka macro lens, or micro lens as Nikon calls them. Maybe a ring-flash for macro. Lots of things to consider, best to take it one step at a time.
