I've a bit of spare cash kicking around so rather than spend it on something boring like the car or house stuff I'm going to blow it on another lens. :)

I'm generally a landscape 'tog but I also enjoy the BBMF's aircraft so would like a lens for photographing planes. Would the Sigma 150-500 fit the bill well? Is there a better option? Budget is around 600 quid, camera is D700.

Thanks.

They are used by a lot of plane togs, saw loads at Duxford today. I used a 300mm f4 Nikon I hired and that was great, although equates to 450mm on my D300 and would not want less. Zoom would have been nice as at times wanted to be closer or further away, but its a lightish lens considering and great IQ (have some pics in Transport). Maybe a 2nd hand one (older model is £300-400 SH) and a TC?

The Siggy is an excellent lens, used mune mostly for birds but one of my Red Arrow shots on a Canon 350D some years ago.
