D7000 live view screen

I have had my D7000 for approx 2 months now but have never used the live view screen up untill yesterday.

The problem I am having is that when I change the appertue valve the exposure on the live view screen remains the same, is this correct? as my old sony reacted to the changes in aperture setting.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Canon DSLRs have a menu option, buried deep in the custom functions, to allow you to set the Live View display to "exposure simulation". This causes the Live View image to be displayed with a brightness level simulating the exposure setting. I'd be gobsmacked if a new Nikon didn't have the same capability.
