D7000 - Oil on sensor - how many cleans?

D7000 owners,

Have you had issues with oil on the sensor and if so how many times have you had it cleaned and has it sorted the issue?

I have cleaned mine twice now since having it, shot about 500 pictures and needs doing again, only a couple of slight blemishes which could be PP out but irritates me that for the price paid I should not have to do it.

Not prepared to let Jessops / Nikon have it back and do a clean taking weeks when I can do it myself in a couple of minutes with a sensor swab and fluid.

Annoyed at price of swabs though.

Yep, I've got a bit of shutter lubricant on mine. It only shows up with really high apertures, and it's easy to knock out again in post.

The Nikon service centre is just down the road from me, and they do a clean while you wait as long as you've made an appointment. I'll get round to taking it there, but probably not until I've racked up 3000 or so clicks on the camera. That should hopefully get rid of enough excess lubricant making the problem less likely to reappear.

Just shoot through it for a bit like Slaphead said. Then give it one good clean and you will be fine!
