D90 battery fault?

Yes
I have a 2 month old D90 which came with a genuine new battery (EN-EL3e all from Jessops) and I have noticed now after the third or fourth charge, the battery will happily sit in its charger (MH-18a) blinking away for about 5 minutes and then suddenly stop blinking. The "End" light doesn't come on and the "Charge" light goes off. I look in the battery info and it displays correctly (currently) 59% and "New", so what is going on? I've read all the relevant sections in the manual - ambient temperature is fine, no damage to charger or battery, no mishandling or water damage, etc, so now I'm concerned.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Is this a dud battery or charger?

It could be the MH-18a at fault - have you got another battery to try in it?

Thanks for the replies - I've not got another battery to test - my Dad has a D5000 - I wonder if that has the same battery or charger, if so I could test that.

It does seem to charge during the 5 minutes it stays on charge for as the battery info shows an increase in the percentage charged.

I think I will pop it back to Jessops though as this can't be right.

D5000 takes an ELEN9...

but bizarrely I've just had the very same problem with 3 successive 'clone' batteries. :(

Very odd - mine has the official hologram on it and I've no reason to suppose its a fake - in fact I'd be very worried if Jessops were using clones/fakes! Perhaps it is the charger as you say Ian - but its so new that I haven't even taken the cable tie off it yet!
