Yes
I have just made several longish exposures 30 sec to 2 min on completing the exposure Job No flashed in the top LCD and the camera was to all intents and purposes dead untill it stopped which took about as long as the exposure. No problems with the results but what was happening, can't see anything in the manual thought Any ideas.

That'll be long exposure noise reduction where the camera takes an equivalent length frame to reduce noise. No idea how to switch it off on a Nikon though. I'm a Canon man :)

Thanks Andy that figures I have it enabled will switch it off and see later.

Definitely keep it on, it's a pain waiting sometimes but the results are much better.

Sorry, I'm used to doing astro photos where you turn it off as you're doing a number of sequential photos then capture your "dark" frames all in one go.
