What's wrong with using your 18-105mm at 18mm? If you go much wider you're going to run into complications when photographing people...

oh yeh , the built in flash works well but limited, what flash unit would you reccommend ?, thanx for your help guys

looking for something a little smaller

Do you mean physically smaller? If so you're really looking at a prime - the 50mm is a bit long for groups in tight quarters, the 35mm f/1.8 suggested above would be worth looking, or, if you would prefer a zoom then something like the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8

Hi Graham, yes physically smaller, i have a point and shoot cybershot camera but i often want to take the larger camera for better pics, suppose i want a small easy focus lens , i will gine the 35m a look

What about the Nikkor 18-70? It would fit in with your requirement, plus it's got a good focal range to be an ideal walkround lens too! :)

I have the 35mm and its a cracking lens.

The 50mm will be no different in terms of quality but I found it a little too restricting when taking group shots so opted for the 35mm instead.

Little bit more in cost but worth it imo when shooting groups.

If you've got NX software you can try out the NX2 for free for two months, an upgrade costs around £80 to.
