Another from the Boat Museum and that wonderful pile of rusting metal and rotting wooden boats that I keep returning to. :)

I like the colours and the textures in this one.

As always, any C&C as to how I can improve is appreciated. In particular, there's a red edge/fringe along the edge of the boat, from the top of the picture to the red cleat. I have no idea how it got there, or how to get rid of it. Tried cloning, with no success, perhaps just not good enough? The desaturated background was originally a bright brick wall and the rusty cogwheel. Could my technique of selecting that area be the problem? I set feathering to 1, I think.

Thanks for looking and any advice.

I've had that before
it's very difficult to select the right area to desaturate
in this pic, you could just select a larger area around the fringing and desaturate it
since most of the surround is grey you should get away with it
either that or go back to that step and increase the selected area by a few pixels

It is an interesting image. As you say colour and texture.

One way to get rid of the red line:
- duplicate the background layer and desaturate it
- create a mask layer and then using a small soft brush paint on the mask layer so
that the red stuff is removed.

thanks both very much.

I'll experiment with both methods.
