On the way back from work today I had an impromptu trip in to the mountains. Just decided to see where a small exit went and after 10miles of uphill to around 7000 ft it was obvious i was in the wrong place for decent shots of the mountains and I was getting worried about not having snow tyres!
This one was a nearly shot I think. I could see what I wanted to get, unfortunately, the lens hood on the 17-40 was too small to stop the lens flare so I was having to hold in one hand while trying to block the sun with my other. Not a recipe for a great shot. If the tripod head had arrived it would have been an easy job and I could have got the composition right. I only tried a couple as it was chuffin cold!
oh, and in case nobody has ever seen a joshua tree...
