Desert Photography

Hello all, I am off to Dubai soon and will be going to a sunset / evening event in the desert. I would like to capture desert sunset, falconry display etc, any hints or tips on exposure or any other desert-related thoughts? Any help gratefully received. I'm a reasonably experienced photographer but this is a new subject for me. (oh and a first post on TP!)

I went camping in the sahara for two weeks for my honeymoon...
There was a lot of time when I was on ISO 100, and my camera was bouncing off 1/4000 saying it was still overexposed. I had a polariser, but you can still forget the idea of bright orange sand and blue sky at midday, it's REALLY bright!

I'm guessing you may want a UV filter. And maybe some grads if you want to be dramatic?
