Does anybody here use a vinyl backdrop on a roll?

Im thinking about getting a white vinyl backdrop on a roll approx 3m x 11m. The only problem is that I know that they are heavy. I currently have Manfrotto roll pieces that go in either end of the roll using a chain to pull my backdrops up and down. I have the Manfrotto brackets which hold 3 rolls at once on a wall.
What I want to know is will I need a support bar running through the centre of the roll to support the weight of the vinyl or can I just use the manfrotto chain system and the roll like I was using with paper rolls?

I use a vinyl roll - It is attached to my support system by the following means - I ran a peice of grey drainpipe through the loop at one end - and that helps it to sit nicely on my backdrop support pole.
