Does the canon 300/2.8 non-IS fit in the 300 case?

I've bought a Canon 300/2.8 non-IS but it came without a case. I've got a great soft case for it but have now found a 300 case (from the IS version) for sale. Does anybody know if the non-IS version fits in this case? Is the case strong enough to sit on (as a seat at sports events, for example)?
 
I dont think the difference in dimensions of IS v non-IS is that great. Never tried it though but it's worth getting the case anyway I reckon.

There are two cases for the IS version - a rounded "vanity case" like thing and a very squared light coloured box. If it's the latter, then I see quite a few togs sitting on theirs (and the 400mm case too), or at the very least putting their laptop on it whilst they sit on a stool.
 
Cheers Tobers - the one I've found is the rounded vanity one I suspect. Looking at it again, the inside isn't very sculpted so I guess I have some leeway in getting the lens in. Think I'll go for it.

I've not had it long and was worried at was a bit soft at first. Testing on my 1DmkII against a 300/4 suggested the f4 was sharper. But looking closer I think the f2.8 was backfocusing a little. I got it from a paparazzo who showed me the shots he had just taken with it an they were pin sharp, so I guess the lens has been calibrated for his body. I've a 5D mkII which allows lens adjustments so I'll see how much it needs, and if significant find a place to send it for calibration.
