I had it repaired not so long again and can't remember how it was exactly when i brought it 2nd hand.

This started to happen before the IS fell apart inside but as its still within 3 months warranty for repair I just want your opinion on this.

With the IS switched on, when you take a shot does the lens make a ever so quite little squeek inside? Its hard to describe this but is it suppose to be silent with the IS in?

I'm curious to know as when this (i think) started to happen the IS just got worse and worse which led me to having it repaired.
 
More a creak than a squeak, but yes, Canon IS does make a noise!
Actually, it's quite reasuring to hear that it is doing something!

Well, I will have to listen for that myself then! Not had any problems with the IS, but I have to say I love it!
 
The IS on the 70-200 f/4 is one of the more noisy versions.
