Drobo - user experience?

In a few weeks I'll be getting one of these with 2 x 1TB drives, should come with Droboshare.

I am just wondering what are the user experience on these are from people here? Will be connecting it up to my router and share it between my PC and Mac.

i brought one of these little beauties when i first saw them at focus back in 2008.

Was really impressed by the way it can handle different size disks to create a RAID system.

however after plugging in sledge and connecting it my router i find the USB 2.0 a bit of a bootle neck when accessing it via cat 5 or wireless network. not as fast as i like it to be.

On whole a great piece of it enjoy it

3 HD? No, you don't NEED to.

2 HD = Mirror
3 HD = Parity.

I agree with Ross2 it isn't the quickest piece of kit around but it does exaclty what it says on the tin and has given me no bother whatsoever and a whole load of peace of mind

why oh why have they not released a unit with built in eithernet (pref gigabit) yet?

edit - not sure what eithernet is.. lol
