Dual card slots D7000

I set my camera to JPEG in 1 and RAW in the other.

I thought that on the counter it would show how many shots left on the card with the least left but it seems that it isnt the case.

With the raw card alone its 637
With the JPEG card alone its 158
With both its 545

Now i would of expected it to be 158.

What happens then when I go over 158? can someone explain the logic of how this setup works?

Because when you remove one the settings will show for one card and combine what you set, jpeg plus raw on one card(as you removed one it will put both on the same card)

What size are the cards? Are they the same size?
