Dust bunnies on a G9

Hi All,

My faithful G9 has been infected with dust bunnies :(( Now where i'm perfectl happy cleaning dust off the sensor on my DSLR, I see no way to clearing them out of a G9. Infact shouldn't it be impossible to get dust in there is it should be sealed? But they're definitely there, i've cleaned the lens thoroughly and taken a picture of a blank blue sky and there they are, teasing me!

Any advice on cleaning the things before I resort to calling up Canon and loosing my baby for weeks?

Thanks

// Carl

I've read things about the a design flaw in the G9 that sucks dust into the lens assembly.

I was looking at buying a G9 later in the year... I'll be keeping an eye on whether this gets fixed. Unbelievable that the camera can become unusable in less than a year with normal use :eek:

Crikey that's an interesting link, thanks Anorakus! I guess i'll give canon a call on Monday then and see if they'll fix it, seems insane that a design flaw like that could be introduced :(

Yeah, interesting link. I think I might just sway for a Ricoh point and shoot instead.

I know its a old thread but i found it when i searched i have a G9 and its got what looks like a small in length hair inside the lens so looks like i'll have to get onto Canon as its only 8 month old :|

Im in two minds once its been sorted if i should sell it on as they tend to fetch what i paid and though im very happy with the camera if i get something else in the lens in another 8 month later im going have to pay out for it which i don't want to do as it must be a design flaw :shake:

Ive owned many compacts in past and never had the problem with them and i do look after my stuff i own.
