I agree that the shot is neither a tight detail shot or a wider location type shot which weakens the impact of the image (as it is not sure what it is).
The decision to use a narrow depth of field and leave only the second groin sharp would have been a good choice for a tighter shot but fails it when looking at the wider landscape.
So how to improve? These type of shots are notoriously difficult as they need a little something extra to really work. For example one of the groins being another colour or an object in the distance that the line of groins can lead to give easier compositional choices.
I would exhaust every option if I wasn't feeling like I was getting anywhere. Eventually a shot, if it is there, would be found.
