I was having a quick scout around on the net earlier today, looking for some cheap drives to use for archiving.....this is a few of ebuyers cheapest "bargains"!!!

I reckon the new office junior might need to look for a new job!!

mechanical drive prices have rocketed due to flooding in the east (see thread in OOF)

also smaller obsolete sizes are more expensive generally as theyre harder to get hold of

Yes, afraid hard drive prices are rocketing due to floods in Thailand etc and some (if not all) retailers are increasing their prices even thought they have current stocks.

note to self - stop filling up hard drives..

I bought 5 2Tb drives for less than £300 2 months ago. The same 5 drives would cost closer to £1000 today (they're probably the same as the ones you have Neil). All my data is now on 1Tb or 2Tb drives - I have one of each spare in case....

Seeing the current prices for these is shocking. Got a two bay synology nas back in August and put in two of those drives. Cost me £95 for two 2tb drives from Scan on a weekend deal! My timing normally sucks, not this time.

I knew that hard drives had increased in price but didn't realise how much till I saw this thread.

I got 2x 2TB drives from ebuyer a few months back and paid around £75 each... same as neil_g now £190 each!
