Electric Corona - any tips?

I was wondering, what would be the best technique for capturing the electrical corona around an insulator, especially in moist/rainy weather when the "buzz" is loud enough to hear.

Assuming that I have my usual SLR (Canon EOS 550D), with tripod and remote trigger, is it a viable proposition?

I tried to take a similar photo a while back. With a very sharp lens, this was my best attempt

I came to the that the corona shimmers and to get a good photo you have to be very good or lucky.
